The Olympic Flame in Naxos
On Tuesday April 16th , the touching of the Olympic Flame ceremony took place in Ancient Olympia.
In the ruins of the temple of the goddess of marriage, Hera, the sun's rays lit the Olympic Flame.
The traditional ceremony took place in the cradle of Olympism, re-examining all its symbols. The Olympic Flame will arrive in Marseille on May 8, with intermediate stations throughout the length and breadth of our country. Among the stations of the Flame, our Naxos, the largest island of the Cyclades, also dominates proudly.
The flame's journey has begun and will reach its final destination, Paris on July 26 for the start of the Olympic Games.
